Bennett Named Director of Market Investigations

Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty has promoted Jim Bennett to serve as the director of market investigations for the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR). Bennett replaces Sam Binnun, who recently left to pursue another career opportunity. Bennett will report to OIR General Counsel Steve Parton.

Bennett first joined the OIR in Oct. 2004 as a senior attorney. In Aug. 2007, he was promoted to executive senior attorney before taking on the role of chief assistant general counsel for the OIR's market investigations unit. In addition to overseeing the operations of the unit, he also represented the state in many National Association of Insurance Commissioners' multi-state examinations.
